Stephen Curry Scores 56 Points in Warriors’ Win Over Magic
Stephen Curry is 36 years old now but he’s still playing basketball at the highest level. On February 27th, Curry scored a season high 56 points as his Golden State Warriors beat the Orlando Magic 121-115 in Orlando.
Curry scored 36 points on 12 three point baskets and was a prefect 12 for 12 from the free throw line. Only eight of his points were regular old two point baskets. Curry is averaging 24 points per game this season, very close to his career average of 24.7. He’s scored 30 or more points 14 times this season, including six times in February. He leads the NBA in free throw percentage at 93.2 % and his 4.4 three pointers made per game also leads the league.
Curry is leading a resurgence of the Warriors. They were 12-3 on November 22nd and then went into a long tailspin, dropping down to .500 (15-15) on December 27th. They hovered around that mark until winning six of seven in February, closing the month at 32-27. The Warriors are seventh in the Western Conference, and would be a play in team for the post season, but they are just a half game out of sixth place behind the Los Angeles Clippers. They have one game left with the Clippers, the final game of the regular season on April 13th. Golden State must also hold off Minnesota and Dallas, both of which are just a half game behind them, as well as Sacramento. The Kings are just a game and a half behind the Warriors. Golden State has one game left with Sacramento, but has completed play with the Timberwolves and Mavericks.
