Geoff found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “I’ll Be the Judge” under the $600 clue, with 4 $1,000 clues left after it. He was in the lead with $6,400, twice as much as Jan in second place. He bet $2,000 and misunderstood the clue. He said “what is a lie” and that was WRONG.

You actively impeded the investigation by giving the FBI false info. That’s this 3-word crime and a very very big deal. show

NONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.

WHO IS LOUIS VUITTON?

Louis Vuitton established his luggage business in 1854 at 4 Rue Neuve des Capucines in Paris. His reputation as a box maker and packer of expensive items, including fashions, grew to such an extent that he was hired as personal box-maker and packer to Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III. Vuitton trunks and other items quickly became status symbols. After Vuitton’s death in 1892, his son Georges inherited the business and, in 1896, designed the first LV monogram to honor his father. From Louis Vuitton.com: “The LV Monogram canvas represents innovation, design, and timelessness combined with the elegance of the House’s heritage of savoir-faire.”

Of course, you know that LV means 55 but click here, if you’re like some printable Roman numeral charts for the kiddies (and lots of other stuff).

Jan thought it was Versace. She lost her $7,000 bet, leaving her $2,800.

Jeff thought the same as Jan. He lost $6,001, dropping him down to $7,599.

Osman made it a Versace trifecta. He lost $9,000 so he landed in second place with $4,900. Geoff Brousseau is the new Jeopardy! champ.

Given the current stretch of one day champs I wonder what would happen, if J does not get 15 players together for the next ToC? As far as I know we have currently the college champ, 1 player who won 6 games, 2 with 5 and 2 with 4 wins. That’s 6. Postpone or go to 3 game winners?

    • Marilyn says:

The last two ToC’s were in Nov. 2015 and Nov. 2017. The two year gap annoyed me.

    • VJ says:

I wouldn’t object if they went with some 3 game winners. It would be fun to see them get a shot, imo

@Marilyn, I agree. It’s very disappointing when they skip a year.

  2. Albert says:

I really thought Osman was going to be a 20 game winner like Julia Collins. Jeopardy is truly a baffling and humbling game. Osman had tougher opposition today than yesterday.

    • VJ says:

@Albert, well, I knew that Osman wasn’t going to win many games due to a spoiler in the Howdies video. There’s that ol’ buzzer factor and I think that Geoff was quicker on the draw than Osman today.

Incidentally, this is the second week in a row that the howdies video had a spoiler in it, so idk if I am going to post it if that keeps up. Starting today, I am putting in the players’ occupation in the intro, skip their town but still put in their state, so you guys can still have an idea of what area of the country they are from.

      • klm says:

Thanks VJ. A few months ago I did have this idea to request you to put the players’ occupations in the intro. Adds an extra layer of interest while reading about the game.

  3. VJ says:

@Nell, it’s too bad that they didn’t put something about DonateLLa in the Double “L” Words category. That may have led to the players ruling out Versace. The only thing I can think that made them ignore the “L” is they read the clue as “five five” and not “fifty-five”

@Lou, I dunno about other folks, but even if I had that kind of money to throw around, I wouldn’t spend it on luxury items like that. I’m not a status conscious type of gal.

@VJ, I really have to agree with you. It does not make you a different – leave alone better- person wearing an Armani suit or dress instead something nice and much cheaper. Not as long as anyone- especially children, starve, have not even clean water , a roof over their head or the most basic medical care.. And I am talking ALL over the world.

Nothing wrong with spoiling yourself once in a while, but spending – idk – 15 grand or more for a dress seems perverse to me.

  4. Louis says:

I would have loved seeing osman win again but still, how do these guys not know Louis Vuitton? And the triple solve I wanted to see was dashed. VJ, do you have family members that ever bought vuitton purses or bags? When will the leader curse be broken again?

  5. Jacob Ska says:

@John B., I don’t know why the Super Bowl is in Roman numerals. However, I do know that a lot of talk has been taking place this year about Super Bowl 55 aka LV being held in Tampa, Florida in year 2021. Evidently there were no football fans among the contestants since this year was Super Bowl 52 aka LII. Just by using that logic at least one contestant should have realized V for Versace is 5 in Roman numerals and didn’t fit 55.

Btw, I wonder if the Louis Vuitton company will try to cash in on Super Bowl LV publicity though? 🙂

All I can say is your initial hunch of zero was in the ballpark.

    • John B. says:

I would bet that Vuitton is taking the opportunity. After all the Super Bowl is shown in other countries as well. It’s not as popular as the Champions League Final in European football (aka soccer in the U.S.). Last year’s CHL final was watched by over 350 million people and was broadcast in more than 200 (!) countries. But Vuitton is expanding (of course also in the U.S. and I would be surprised if their marketing department would not see the opportunity to advertise at a game that bears the logo of the company. We’ll see (if we are still around :):):) )

  6. Nell says:

Hahahaha…what did I tell you? A whole row of Jeopardy geeks who know diddly about fashion.

What did they think the “L” stood for? DonateLLa?

    😂😂😂

  7. John B. says:

DARN it! Should have stayed with my 0 as I wanted in the CotD, but I don’t like extremes (O/3, 3/3) so i picked 1. Well, can’t win them all.
A rather strange wager by Osman….
I always wondered why the numbers for the super bowls are in Roman numerals. Does anyone know? Maybe because they fight as ferociously in the NFL as the Roman gladiators have????
