TWO of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.

WHAT IS “ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST”?

In Ken Kesey’s 1962 novel, the epigraph reads: “One flew east, one flew west, One flew over the cuckoo’s nest — Children’s Folk Rhyme”. In Part IV, Chief Bromden elaborates on that after receiving shock treatment, recalling a game he and his grandmother played: “Ting. Tingle, tingle, tremble toes, she’s a good fisherman, catches hens, puts ’em inna pens … wire blier, limber lock, three geese inna flock … one flew east, one flew west, one flew over the cuckoo’s nest … O-U-T spells out… goose swoons down and plucks you out.”

The 1975 film version of the novel won 5 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director (Milos Forman), Best Actor (Jack Nicholson as Randle P. McMurphy) and Best Actress (Louise Fletcher as Nurse Ratched). In a 1963 Broadway production, Kirk Douglas played McMurphy.

Dave wrote down “Upstream”. He didn’t bet anything so he remained at $2,400.

Sathvik got it right. He bet $11,499, bringing him up to $27,799.

Elise got it, too. She bet $8,000 and won the game with $34,600. Elise Nussbaum is the new Jeopardy! champ.

Dave couldn’t get much rhythm going. A bomb isn’t going destroy an entire island so did he confuse the atomic bomb in Hiroshima for the hurricane in Dominica VJ? Don’t know what he was thinking here. But still congratulations to Elise on her win.

Well, I assumed that he thought the first part of that clue was mentioned because the second part had to do with some type of attack or siege. Dumb clue.
