U.S. SENATE HISTORY: In 1805, after 4 years presiding over the Senate, he left the chamber, calling it “a sanctuary; a citadel of law, of order” show

All of the clues this week were easy, although the results didn’t quite reflect that. We had two clues that everyone got. Two players got Tuesday’s clue and Friday’s Senate clue was a triple stumper. If you didn’t know the U.S. VP presides over the senate, then getting Friday’s clue wasn’t going to happen, but if you did, it should have been easy.

NYT Clue of the Day 9-26-23
As for the book clue that two players got on Tuesday, I supposed that the one player who picked “College Bowl” may have thought the right response was published much earlier. We do know that just the last name the book bears was what they were actually looking for, as opposed to the book’s title. I suspected as much and confirmed it on Wednesday with the New York Times Clue of the Day. You will see that at the bottom of the image where it says “Yesterday’s Response”.

Nine more former contestants faced off in the third Second Chance Tournament of Season 40. Jilana Cotter won on Monday; Michalle Gould on Tuesday and Barb Fecteau on Wednesday. These three ladies then competed against each other on Thursday and Friday with Jilana Cotter taking the $35,000 top prize. Money-wise, they were all winners: Michalle won $20,000 and Barb won $10,000.
