WHAT IS THE FIRST FOLIO?
Below is a reading of Ben Jonson’s “To the Reader” epigram opposite the Droeshout engraving of William Shakespeare, the frontispiece of the First Folio. Jonson knew Shakespeare personally, as a rival and as a friend. Jonson, it is said, thought the portrait was a good likeness. Shakespeare passed away in 1616, 7 years before the First Folio was printed in 1623. His wife, Anne, passed away earlier in 1623. However, Shakespeare’s 2 daughters were alive and they were grown women. You’d think they knew what their daddy looked like! So, I think Jonson’s epigram is more in the nature of an endorsement of the Bard’s literary talents.

In boxing terms, this was a first-round KO. At least Anthony came out with a respectable total. But there was no reason for him to bet $0 in Final; he was assured of $3000 I took my driving test in Whitestone, NY. I could tell from Sarah’s job title and city of residence that she works for the same employer I retired from. Caleb really shot the moon on his wagers today.
Not a great night for me but I did get some of the $1000 and $2K clues and the 3rd DD. And the $800 homophone.
We hadn’t had a 60,000 payday in a long time but kudos to Caleb for making up for the big loss in Final the other day. Second time this week that we had a player who didn’t make it to Final.
