Will landed on the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Asia” under the $1,000 clue on the third pick of the round. He was in the lead with $800, $200 more than Ben in second place. He bet the $1,000 allowance and guessed the Yellow River. That was WRONG.

Will finished in the lead with $5,200. Ben was second with $4,600 and Meggie was last with $4,400.

Meggie found the first Daily Double in “Throwing You a Curve” under the $1,600 clue on the 12th pick. She was in third place with $7,600 now, $5,200 less than Ben’s lead. She made it a true Daily Double and came up with inflation. That was WRONG.

WHAT IS UNEMPLOYMENT?

Will got the last Daily Double in “Brothers” under the $800 clue, with 8 clues left after it. In second place with $9,600, he had $4,600 less than Ben’s lead. Meggie chimed in with a very audible “do it”, but unlike Roger Craig when Ken Jennings did that, Will didn’t go for it. He bet $4,400 and he was RIGHT.

Ben finished in the lead with $15,000. Meggie was next with $13,600 and Will was in third place with $12,000.

NONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right and, just like the 1/12/2015 match, they all had different answers

WHO IS T.E. LAWRENCE or LAWRENCE OF ARABIA?

T.E. Lawrence, famously known as Lawrence of Arabia, died on May 19, 1935, near his home in Dorset County, England, 6 days after crashing his motorcycle while attempting to avoid hitting two boys out riding their bicycles. PBS has the text of the tribute that Winston Churchill gave at Lawrence’s high school the following year.

The motorcycle Lawrence was operating at the time of the accident was a Brough Superior model, “the Rolls-Royce of Motorcyles”. Lawrence owned a number of them. The Telegraph has a recent article (1/29/2020) about one, including the bike’s specs. It also mentions a mistake in the registration number that showed up in the 1962 “Lawrence of Arabia” biopic starring Peter O’Toole.

Will went with Chamberlain. He lost his $6,000 bet and finished with $6,000.

Meggie came up with “Astin-Martin”. Aston Martin is a company name, not a person. She also lost $6,000 but finished with $7,600.

Ben thought it might be Davidson but he was American. Like Will, he bet half his score and that left him with $7,500.

These scores will be added to tomorrow’s final scores to determine the winner of the 2020 Teachers Tournament.

There was only one triple stumper in the whole game!
