WHO IS LORRAINE HANSBERRY?

Lorraine Hansberry was 29 years old when “A Raisin in the Sun” debuted on Broadway. The award-winning play was inspired by her own family’s experience when, as a child, her parents bought a home in an all-white Chicago neighborhood. The Hansberrys had to sue to keep it. The case went all the way to the Supreme Court — Hansberry vs. Lee, 311 U.S. 32 (1940). The ruling in their favor paved the way to discriminatory restrictive covenants being declared unconstitutional 8 years later.

J-Archive shows over 30 clues on Lorraine Hansberry but this 1992 clue was the only one to mention the Supreme Court case before today. Oddly enough, it included the last name: 1992-04-22 FAMOUS WOMEN ($800) This playwright’s father, Carl Hansberry, won a civil rights case in the Supreme Court

Alice bet $3,200 and finished with $9,200.

Chris bet $1,601 and finished with $12,401.

Greg bet $9,201 and won the game with $21,601. That gives Greg a 2-day total of $54,601.
