I got Final right, although I think they gave him too much precedence. I only knew it because, over 30 years ago, that’s what I got for my second spelling bee win. For many years, I’ve just gone to the .com when I need a thesaurus.

Overall, I’m ready for this tourney to be done. I, myself, liked better when there are wild cards. That adds more strategy.

    • VJ says:

Ditto on the Wild Cards, not to mention that this format drags the tournament out too long!

  2. Anne BA says:

That first Mermaids answer should be Starbucks, not StarKist.

    • Rick says:

Actually, one of the contestants did say ‘Starbucks’ (although I came up with ‘Star Kist myself).

    • VJ says:

Thanks, Anne , I fixed that. Wow, it’s almost funny that I screwed that up– I have a Starbucks Doubleshot every morning and it’s really Chicken of the Sea that has the mermaid that I saw in my mind.

  3. Howard says:

Thought all would get the final; wasn’t anything like yesterday’s.

  4. Rick says:

Hmmmm…..All I could come up in FJ was Dewey, but I knew that was dead on arrival. Actually, none of my family got it right.

  5. Esme St. Claire says:

Um, I think the second anagram response is WRONG.

  6. Richard Corliss says:

The all gender streak is finally over. But I hope Caleb will forgive Maya from the rematch.
