Only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
French art critic Louis Vauxcelles is often credited with coining the term “Cubism”; however, the Visual Arts Encyclopedia says that it “is not quite so clear-cut. Prior to his show at Kahnweiler’s gallery, [Georges] Braque submitted several examples of his early Cubist paintings (landscapes) to the selection committee of the 1908 Salon d’Automne, a member of which – Henri Matisse – is said to have remarked critically that they consisted of “petits cubes”. Moreover, according to the British art critic, Frank Rutter (1876-1937), the art dealer Leonce Rosenberg (1877-1947) had been present when Matisse made his remark and overheard the word “Cubisme” also being used. Nevertheless, Vauxcelle has become forever identified with how Cubism got its name. As it was, neither Braque nor Picasso were particularly enthusiastic about the name Cubism, and did not initially adopt it.”
Josh went with minimalism. He lost his $1,603 bet and finished with $10,597.
Eric wrote down art deco. He lost $5,000 and was left with $8,000.
Emma got it right. She didn’t bet anything and got the semi-final spot with the $23,800 she already had.
Josh might just get a Wild Card unless both players in the last QF beat his score.

All of Emma’s winning totals have been more than $20,000
Emma pretty much dominated the whole game today. We just might see her and James face off in the finals later VJ. By the way wasn’t cubism a clue in an earlier jeopardy game previously?
@Lou, there’s been quite a few clues on the movement. Today’s FJ clue is a sort of rewrite of this $600 clue from 2016– only easier:
“C-U” ($600) The name of this movement came from a derisive 1908 review about Georges Braque
After that, there was a 12/2018 clue that mentioned Picasso and Braque.
