WHAT IS OTTAWA?

It is “a monumental early 19th-century construction covering 202 km [125.517 miles] of the Rideau and Cataraqui rivers from Ottawa south to Kingston Harbour on Lake Ontario.” Its original raison d’etre was military– to assist Great Britain in its fight with the USA for control of Canada.
