James and John Harper began their publishing business as J & J Harper in 1817. Brothers Joseph Wesley and Fletcher both joined the business by 1825. By then, J & J Harper was the largest volume publisher in New York City. In 1833, the firm became Harper & Brothers. The brothers’ fame and influence grew and in 1844, James Harper became the mayor of New York City. Fletcher Harper is known for giving cartoonist Thomas Nast his start in Harper’s Weekly. In the 20th century, Harper & Brothers merged with other companies. Its current incarnation (since the 1990s) is HarperCollins. The company’s entire history can be found on Company-Histories.com.

The “two years ago” prompt points to a FJ about ‘”Last Words” (dated 10-8-19) not “Hit 1980s Albums.”

Thanks for continuing to do an amazing job with this site!

Thanks, Penpusher, glad to hear you enjoy the site, and thank you for bringing that little mix-up on the date to my attention. It’s fixed now.

Well Jon is off to a good start with today’s game but that funny penguin response will win laughs with the disney penguin movie. Anyway I know of a batman villain named Penguin voiced by the late Burgess Meredith which I am sure you’ve heard of right vj? Robinson couldn’t get much going today as Jon is quick on the buzzer today. Maybe we might have another streaker

Back to good old “who is” and “what is”. No more of that “what’s” rubbish.
