Ed found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Across History” under the $600 clue on the 16th pick. He was in the lead with $3,000, $600 more than Mark in second place. Ed bet $1,000 and he was RIGHT.

Round 2 Categories: Mountains – Idol Talk – Scientific Laws & Theories – Middle Names – From Film to TV – What’s in Your Gullet?

Ed finished in the lead with $16,000. Mark was next with $11,400 and Alexa was in third place with $4,800. All clues were shown.

TWO of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.

WHO IS EEYORE?

Everyone who is familiar with English author A.A. Milne’s 1926 “Winnie the Pooh” works knows that most of Pooh’s friends have self-describing names. There’s Piglet, Kanga and her offspring Roo, Owl, Rabbit and Tigger. And then there’s Eeyore who might otherwise be known as Donkey. Merriam-Webster’s article on the topic explains that Eeyore is “a phonetic spelling of the sound a donkey makes” in England and “it’s simply because of the transcription that most Americans wouldn’t read Eeyore” as a hee-haw from a donkey. Evidently in England, they drop the “r” in the “yore” part of the name and say \EE-aw\.

Alexa thought it was Hop the Bunny. She lost her $3,401 bet and finished with $1,399.

Mark got it right. He bet $1,799 and finished with $13,199.

Ed got it right, too. He bet $6,801 and won the game with $22,801. Ed Coulson’s 2-day total is $40,200.

Alexa blew her chance at staying in the game by missing that pretty easy DD. She even expressed shame for not getting it.

Mark looked SO familiar, maybe like a character actor. He had an odd habit of lurching his right arm forward when he’d ring in on a clue.

I never read Winnie the Pooh, but figured from 1926 what book it was and what sidekick they were after.

Couldn’t name one song by the band in that Sirius photo, but the leader’s face was familiar enough to ID him. The Exorcist girl was a tough one, but I read the book and saw the movie long, long ago, and she was pretty memorable. Linda Blair’s claim to fame.

The guy from the 3rd DD (Biblical middle name) came to me right away, although TBH I thought he died later on the Titanic.

Ed’s a pretty cool customer and could be a 5-timer soon. I have to root for him as a fellow senior and because I lived in Dana Point twice in the 70s and 80s.

Also, Mark’s FJ wager seemed goofy, but then I realized he was locking out Alexa, right or wrong, and knew Ed pretty much had to wager $6801 and miss.

The Titanic guy was the great grandson.

Like November 3rd, 2016, the correct response on Final Jeopardy! was Eeyore, and like that day, at least 2 out of 3 players knew it was Eeyore.

Only 3 more games until the season finale.
