WHAT IS THE BOOK OF THE DEAD?

Per Brittanica: The Book of the Dead is “an ancient Egyptian collection of mortuary texts made up of spells or magic formulas, placed in tombs and believed to protect and aid the deceased in the hereafter … Many copies of the book have been found in Egyptian tombs, but none contains all of the approximately 200 known chapters. The collection, literally titled “The Chapters of Coming-Forth-by-Day,” received its present name from Karl Richard Lepsius, the German Egyptologist who published the first collection of the texts in 1842.”

Rotimi might have won, but, if he continues his strategy, he won’t get far. He wagered for second place. This tournament is win or go home.

I got FJ wrong. Like the lady in the middle, I said “The Bhagavad Gita”.

This show was definitely Second Chancers. They looked like why they didn’t win their games.

Got a little more than half the TS correct.

Pretty tight game, although I thought Pam’s $6K wager with the lead was reckless, and ultimately cost her the win.

FJ out of my comfort zone. I meekly said Koran, which I figured was not it.

The Phantom automobile was not difficult. Neither was the NY music hall. Those two odd-named cities pretty much gave away the F country. The $1000 Sports clue was a toughie, but I figured it out. The NHL penalty answer was not the one I came up with, but mine might have been acceptable.

What was your answer, in place of “diving”? I’m a big hockey fan, so that one was reflexive. Daniel Brière played for the Sabres about 17 years ago, when embellishment became a penalty, and the NHL sent out a video for referees to see. The absolute first one shown, of a player diving, was Daniel Brière!

For lack of a better response, all I could come up with was the Dead Sea Scrolls which I knew wasn’t going to fly. Anyways, it was another great game, and I’m glad that Rotimi was going to the finals.

  4. Richard Walls Corliss says:

Rotimi was originally invited back for the High School Reunion Tournament, but he was tested positive to COVID-19.
