Denver Sweeps Lakers to Advance to NBA Finals

Nikola Jocik had a record breaking eighth playoff triple double and the Denver Nuggets overcame a 73-58 halftime deficit to beat the Los Angeles Lakers 113-111 to complete a four game sweep of their NBA Western Conference final. Denver advances to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history.

Jocik scored 30 points, had 14 rebounds, and 13 assists to lead the Nuggets in all three stats. His eighth triple double in one post season broke the record set by Wilt Chamberlain in 1967. Jamal Murray scored 25 and Aaron Gordon 22 for Denver. LeBron James scored 40 for the Lakers, 31 of which were in the first half. James indicated he will consider retirement in the offseason, which would make this season’s end a double whammy for Lakers’ fans,

Denver, the top seed in the West, will play the winner of the Miami-Boston Eastern Conference final.
