LeBron Scores 51 But Cavaliers Lose in Overtime in Game 1 of the NBA Finals

The Golden State Warriors were heavy favorites going into the 4th edition of the NBA Finals vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers. And it looked like Cleveland would pull off a huge victory in Game 1 in Oakland which could change the dynamics of the situation.

But apparently it was not meant to be. George Hill tied the score at 107-107 after making the first of two free throw attempts, but missed the second shot. JR Smith grabbed the rebound in the paint right in front of the basket but instead of taking a shot from up close, he dribbled way outside before passing the ball as time expired. Though Smith insisted he knew the score, everyone else, including Cavs coach Tyronn Lue, figured he didn’t and ran it out like the Cavaliers were in the lead.

Golden State is too good a team to give second chances to. The Warriors outscored Cleveland 17-7 in overtime to win Game 1 124-114. LeBron James scored 51 points for Cleveland. Game 2 is June 3rd.
