Rose McGowan: Drag Queens and Cults

Actress Rose McGowan, (Charmed, Conan the Barbarian 3D), has been telling some mighty strange stories about her childhood. In a People exclusive, she reveals that she spent the first nine years of her life in a cult in Italy called “the Children of God,” a group that she says began to advocate child-adult sexual relations.

“I grew up in pastoral settings,” Rose said, explaining how her parents were members of this sect that the article describes as having a “hippie lifestyle,” yet relegated females to a subservient status. “I did not want to be like those women. There were basically there to serve the men sexually,” she says. When her father began to fear that Rose might be sexually victimized, he took his family and left. “My dad was strong enough to realize that this hippie love had gone south.” The family relocated to the United States where, Rose adds, “it was not an easy assimilation.”

We guess not because according to another interview she recently gave (the Advocate), she was a runaway by the age of 13 being raised by drag queens.

As for the Children of God, they are now known as The Family International. They released a statement to On the Red Carpet basically saying Rose is full of shit.

Maybe the drag queens can clear this up.
