Red Hot Kyle Schwarber Sizzles With His 16th Homer in 18 Games

Washington Nationals outfielder Kyle Schwarber is having a tremendous June at the plate, especially the last three weeks of the month. On June 29th, Schwarber blasted his 25th home run of the season off Tampa Bay starter Rich Hill to lead off the game in the Nationals’ 4-3 victory over the Rays in Washington. Since June 12th, Schwarber has hit 16 home runs in 18 games, and 10 in his last 12 games.

The blast put Schwarber into a tie with San Diego’s Fernando Tatis, Jr. for the National League lead with 25, and his 53 RBIs are third in the NL. Schwarber has done his part to get the Nationals back into the NL East race. Washington has won eight of 10 and is over .500 at 39-38; the Nationals trail the first place New York Mets (41-34) by three games after game of June 29th.
