QB Joe Burrow Throws Four TD Passes as #6 LSU Beats #9 Texas

Alabama could have some serious competition for the SEC West if the September 7th game between #6 LSU and #9 Texas is any indication. LSU quarterback Joe Burrow passed for 471 yards and four touchdowns as the Tigers topped the Longhorns 45-38 in Austin.

Texas is expected to contend for the Big 12 title, and it’s noteworthy that LSU won on the road against a team of that caliber. Both offenses, particularly the passing games, were stellar. Longhorns quarterback Sam Ehlinger passed for 401 yards and four touchdowns, with no interceptions. Burrow was intercepted once. But both teams could use some shoring up on defense. LSU allowed total 530 yards and Texas 409.

With the win, LSU moved up to 4th in the AP Poll. Clemson remained in the top spot after beating #12 Texas A&M 24-10. Alabama stayed at #2 after beating New Mexico State 62-10, and Georgia remained at #3 after beating FCS Murray State 63-17. Texas dropped down to #12.
