Miss America Meets Aaron Rodgers

At the Miss America pageant back on January 14th, Miss Wisconsin Laura Kaeppeler introduced herself to the audience and said “if you’re watching Aaron Rodgers, call me”.  At the time, Rodgers was watching a football game, but after getting blasted with text messages, he turned on the pageant and watched Kaeppeler win the pageant.

Rodgers and the Packers lost in the NFL playoffs to the New York Giants the next day, and although he did acknowledge in a radio interview a few days later that Kaeppler’s winning was “quite an accomplishment” he didn’t say anything about calling her.  We here at Fikkle Fame opined at the time that perhaps Rodgers needed some time to recover from that playoff loss and might call her later, since not everyone gets a chance to date Miss America.

So on March 5th, Rodgers, who lives in California in the off season, just happened to be in Milwaukee, and he attended the Milwaukee Bucks basketball game that night.  It just so happened that Miss America was also there and sang the National Anthem.  And it came to pass that Aaron surprised her at halftime with an invitation to his guest suite at the game fulfilling her wish to meet the quarterback.

This meeting may have been part coincidence, but it could  also be part opportunity.  Rodgers was aware she would be singing the National Anthem at the game.  “Big game at the Bradley Center, still some seats available I’m guessing.  U don’t want to miss the girl singing the anthem either” he tweeted earlier in the day.  Was Rodgers going to go to the game anyway, or did he decide to go at least in part because she was there?  Time will tell if this was just a nice friendly one and done meeting, or if there’s more to it.  We’ll be watching to see how this develops.
