Taylor Walls Hits Two Home Runs as Rays win 8th Straight

Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Taylor Walls isn’t a player that comes to mind when mentioning power hitters. Through 577 career games, the switch hitter has just 24 home runs. But he had plenty of power in his bat in the Rays’ game at Sacramento against the Athletics on August 11th.

Walls hit a pair of home runs, his first two of the 2026 season, and they were hit from both sides of the plate. He also accomplished this feat back in 2023 in a game against Cincinnati. The Rays (73-46) beat the Athletics 12-4, for their eighth straight victory and ninth in their last 10 games. The Rays led the Yankees by six games and the Red Sox by nine after completion of play on August 11th.
