Kris Allen American Idol Opinion Misquoted

According to TMZ, Taylor Hicks says that Kris Allen is wrong about American Idol having running its course, and, well, we thought that was pretty odd. Why would an American Idol winner, and particularly one as sweet and nice as Kris Allen, knock the show. And to TMZ, for heaven’s sake, knowing that would be all over the net like greased lightning?

Here’s what Kris had to say on Twitter. “I would hope that people would know I love @AmericanIdol and that I would never say anything negative about the show. Ever. The show has given me an opportunity that I never would have had without it.”

That’s what we thought, Kris. We hope he doesn’t feel bad. It is pretty mean when the press makes things up or tries to trick someone into saying something for a story. After the American Idol season was over, we even saw a few questions reporters were posing to 16-year-old Jessica Sanchez to try to get her to say something negative, like she felt bad about coming in second, or didn’t she think the voters picked the right person … dang, that’s low.

No, the contestants usually take these things in stride. On his twitter, Taylor Hicks took Jay Leno’s joke (Friday’s monologue) with good humor (about Phillip Phillip’s father hiring him to replace Phillip in the pawn shop).

So apparently, it’s TMZ’s own opinion that they should pull the plug on Idol after the show had the least amount of viewers for the finale ever (in spite of getting a record 32 million votes). And there surely are those who agree. A lot of people feel that the show is rigged. Every season, there are people who complain their votes were misdirected, but this season, there were some people we talked to who even thought the Jessica Sanchez save was a ploy and the votes were manipulated.

But there is going to be a Season 12 of American Idol and auditions will be getting underway with the first stop in Los Angeles on June 7. Then it’s off to the Pru Center in Newark, NJ where East Coast hopefuls will get their chance on June 23rd.

Check out the audition schedule if you want to be an American Idol contestant.
