The 2019 Jeopardy! All Stars tournament continued today, with the same format as last week. The teams have changed, so for today and the next 2 days, the contest is between Team Ken, Team Austin and Team Julia. Today we will only see the first round of their first game.

FYI: Jeopardy.com is putting up videos of the strategy sessions, interviews and other interactions with the contestants both on its website and on its Youtube channel This is the extended version of Trebek’s interview with the Team Captains (we only saw about the last 3 minutes of it in last Wednesday’s single round show).

Today’s Jeopardy round will be played by Ken Jennings, Austin Rogers and Ben Ingram:

The Store was Closed! – Great Nicknames – Animal Talk – Classic Movies – Ranks & Titles – The Book of the Century

Ken got the Daily Double in “Great Nicknames” under the $1,000 clue. He was in the lead with $4,000. Ben had $800 and Austin was at negative $600. Ken made it a true Daily Double and he was RIGHT.

It wasn’t on direct in San Diego. We saw a rerun of an old show! Why?

    • VJ says:

@Andrea, you may already know but I just saw a message on Facebook that said yesterday’s All-Star show (2-25) will air at 6:30 PM on NBC San Diego and today’s show (2-26) at regular time

  2. Richard Corliss says:

There must be a reason why Arthur Chu isn’t in this tournament?

  3. jared says:

I don’t like Austin Rogers saying people who have day jobs are “suckers” or that people who don’t like the format of this tournament are “losers”

I don’t think he’s as controversial as say, Arthur Chu, but I wonder what he thinks this makes him look like.

    • Albert says:

Austin thinks he is funny, but he comes off as jerky, imo.

    • VJ says:

mmmm, I watched that TMZ Austin video but evidently, Jeopardy! Facebook posters didn’t get the memo because there were still a lot of complaints about the format over there today. imo, Jeopardy! puts their Facebook page up to get feedback from all their viewers, not just the contestants and super fans. Maybe Austin ought to put that in his pipe and smoke it.

That being said, it really isn’t that big of a deal in terms of taking up 4 days to show 2 games. That’s probably less times than most people will get preempted and/or their station will show them the wrong game this year. Truthfully, my web browser aggravates me on a daily basis a lot more than this format.

  4. VJ says:

I think Team Brad will win but if Team Buzzy makes it to the finals, I’ll be rooting for them.

  5. Albert says:

The really impressive thing about Ken is his W I D E body of knowledge. To know Suspiria, Fight Club, and Harold Lloyd is very impressive. Not only does Ken read Literature, Ken must watch almost every movie out there. I wish I had the discipline to sit through a lot of junk movies like Fight Club.

I take issue when Trebek said they were playing for the glory. Glory doesn’t pay for a basketful of groceries.

    • John B./I. says:

      @Albert
Though especially Ken cleaned up at several game shows…another 333.333 bucks are like petty cash for some players. Especially since a huge junk goes towards taxes…

    • JP says:

I do know that Ken is an enormous film buff, so I expected him to jump on ‘Classic Movies’ right away. I remember seeing online years ago, although I cannot find it now, where Ken listed his top 10 favorite movies for every year, going back to the 1930s.

I think film, along with geography, is one his best areas where he had to do the least amount of specific preparation, as compared to alcoholic drinks and presidents, which he said he made flash cards for when preparing for his first run.

  6. Lou says:

Team Ken and team brad will duke it out for the finals. This should be exciting. Plus. I know these guys like to use the Chuck Forrest bounce in this game just like how Tom nissley did previously. VJ and John are you guys rooting for Julia or Ken?

    • John B./I. says:

Ken. Though I like Brad very much too. As I said previously, one of those 2 teams will be the winner. The third team participating in the finals will finish third. It’ll be between Ken and Brad and Kenn and his team will emerge victorious.

  7. John B./I. says:

Team Ken and Team Brad will fight it out for the win in the finals, whoever the third team will be, will be third after the 2 final days,. My prediction: Team Ken will win it all. Maybe close to Team Brad, but they’ll win.
    You heard it here first…..😉

    • Richard Corliss says:

Like I said, Brad doesn’t want anyone to beat him.

      • John B./I. says:

Well, who like to lose? You play to win. Surprised that Ken played the easier J round though…?????!!!

        • VJ says:

Ken said in his team’s strategy video that he wants to play Double Jeopardy in the second game, so that’s why he played the J round in this game.

  8. Patricia A Hodges says:

“Go Ben Ingram Go”! My FAVORITE player of all time! I’m a little disappointed they didn’t talk about or have a picture of the new bed he was going to buy. Seems his feet were hanging off the end of the old one 😄

  9. Richard Corliss says:

Roger Craig will select first in Double Jeopardy.

  10. Richard Corliss says:

I hope Roger Craig will take the lead from Matt Jackson tomorrow before Final.
