WHAT IS “VEEP”?

“Veep” was the title of HBO’s award-winning political satire that ran for 7 seasons (2012-2019). Julia Louis-Dreyfus starred as Vice-President of the USA and later President. The term “Veep” as it refers to the nation’s Vice-President first referred to Harry S. Truman’s V.P., Alben Barkley. Via a 1949 State Dept. wireless bulletin, Barkley said “Veep” was just a nickname his grandchildren came up with, adding that he had no copyright on the word. He said any vice president could use it, but hoped not many would. After that, newspapers proceeded to use “Veep” to refer to the vice president of any entity they were reporting on.

In the earlier 1940s, “veep” was WW2 slang for a jeep carrying full Signal Corps radio equipment. Veep can also refer to the village and parish of St Veep in Cornwall, England, or the 6th century Cornish saint.

Kaylea had no response. She lost $3,999 and finished with $1.00.

Alejandro thought it was “Ballers”. He lost $15,599 and he also finished with $1.00.

Peter got it right. He bet $6,401 and won the game with $31,201 for a 6-day total of $147,399.

I just noticed that Ken said Peter’s winnings were [X] dollars US. That seemed kinda strange, considering he’s American.
