If there was only one Final Jeopardy! clue that should have gone 3 out of 3 this week, it was the SPACE CLUE on Wednesday. Every now and then, when a player has a runaway, s/he doesn’t need to make a bet and may decide to make a joke or give a shoutout to a loved one. What happened here was the opposite. The player who was locked in third place went with a shoutout. Why don’t they answer the clue and give the shoutout, too? Who knows? Perhaps they think more people will talk about the shoutout if they don’t answer the clue or perhaps they just like to leave ’em guessing whether they knew it or not.
There were 3 clues that produced only one right response. Only you know which was hardest for you. I was one of many who solved Thursday’s BRAND NAMES category without the benefit of the “fruit scones” clause that appeared on the show. The clue on the Jeopardy! website and in the NY Times print edition simply read “The name of this food brand introduced in 1964 was influenced by an art movement of that time”. I also got the STATE CAPITALS clue easily. However, my daughter told me they don’t spend as much time on the 13 colonies where she went to school the way they do where I went to school. As for the RIVERS, I misread the clue and named a different European capital that was named after a river. Guess which one.
On Monday, last week’s Second Chance Tournament wrapped up with the final match. Matt Harvey got a ticket to the next Champions Wild Card. The semifinals of this season’s last Second Chance Tournament began on Tuesday and at game’s end on Thursday, we knew that Rotimi Kukoyi, Roy Camara and Long Nguyen would be competing in the 2-part final. What a game that was. Let’s just say things are looking good for Long at this point, but they were looking good for Roy for a while there, too.
Here is the “A Recipe For…” category from Tuesday’s game.
