I really think matt will win the next TOC. Did matt ever say what he is studying?
idk if he mentioned what he’s studying, Albert. I really haven’t been watching the chat segment much these days.
I don’t necessarily agree that he can win the next ToC. You pointed out one of his weaknesses just the other day.
Also wanted to say that I thought that Knights Templar clue was bad. If they required a color in the response, it should have at least said “emblazoned with this colorful symbol”. Unfair that it cost 2 players $1600.
Albert, I’ve been reading several press releases on Matt and they all state he is getting his PhD in Computer Science (emphasis on Artificial Intelligence). Does Computer Science sound familiar in champions? Let’s try Ken Jennings and Roger Craig on for size. Matt also taught statistics as a TA. Does Math sound familiar? Just think James Holzhauer. I think you can see where I’m going with this. There’s a trend. These are academic disciplines where people have a talent for figuring things out really quick which is usually developed at a young age.
However, as VJ correctly pointed out he has his weaknesses. Tonight on that last DD about Sweden was an example. These “quants” as I like to call them know how to capitalize on a DD when the clue is in their wheelhouse. Note he did not wager much on the 3rd DD. That is knowing his weakness imo and figuring out in his head in a nanosecond it’s not in his best interest to wager much and he was correct. That’s a talent that has been developed. I don’t think anyone can truly predict how long his run will last. Only he knows and he’s not telling. LOL.
Very perceptive, except it’s common for a leader in a runaway game (or with a big lead) to bet small on the last DD. The category has little to do with it.
Wow! Keep going to 75 wins, Matt if you can!
Matt is great but not ken jennings great. Matt’s youth and missing the mr darcy final tell me that matt is somewhat vulnerable.
Agreed, but his daily average isn’t far off from Jennings’ which was in the $30K range.
Go Matt Go!
Very likable contestant.
Congrats to matt on his fifth win. Two streakers here for the month of July definitely helped a lot. We are all very proud of how much matt has accomplished so far. Speaking of the Phoenix yu gi oh has a winged dragon of ra which is also a fire bird like creature. Same with the pokemon moltres. Welcome to the tournament of Champions Matthew. The last time we had a teacher from connecticut also making it to the semi finals in the teachers tournament.
It’s Matt not Matthew, ALTHOUGH, Matt IS short for Matthew!
Congrats to Matt on his 5-day winning streak. Welcome to the Tournament of Champions, Matt!
That’s right and now we have 5 players on the TOC tracker and so far we have Brian, Zach, John, Courtney, and now Matt.
