WHO ARE MASON & DIXON?
Charles Mason (1728-1786) and Jeremiah Dixon (1733-1779) were English surveyors and astronomers sent to colonial America to resolve a long-standing border dispute between Pennsylvania and Maryland. Arriving in 1763, their work was not finalized
until October 1767, to wit: an 83 mile north-south border between Maryland and Delaware; and a 233 mile border running west to east between Pennsylvania and Maryland, including what is now part of West Virginia.
The appellation Mason-Dixon Line did not come into use until 1820 in relation to the Missouri Compromise, long after the deaths of Mason and Dixon. According to the BBC, the 2 men were “unlikely to have seen their names directly associated with their achievement, as the official report on the survey did not mention them.”
Kate didn’t have a response. She bet and lost her whole $13,600.
Derek went with Adler & Hayden. That cost him $7,500 and left him with $10,500.
Adam got it right. He bet a big $15,201 and won the game with $36,001. Congrats, Adam! You’re a superchamp with a 10-day total of $228,806.
