Only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.

WHO IS WILLIAM BLIGH?

Lieutenant William Bligh was the commander of the HMS Bounty. He was sent on a mission to Tahiti near the end of December 1787 to scoop up breadfruit saplings and take them to the West Indies for transplanting. (Breadfruit is the part left out of today’s clue.) In April 1789, the ship’s crew mutinied, led by second-in-command, Fletcher Christian. Bligh was set adrift with an 18-man crew “in a perilously overloaded 23-foot launch.” According to the British Heritage website, “Remarkably, on 12th June, after fending off starvation and murderous Polynesian natives, Bligh arrived safely at his destination. Whatever flaws there may have been in his character, he was an exceptional navigator.” Read both sides of the story on all 3 mutinies against William Bligh.

The 1935 film “Mutiny on the Bounty” is the only film to have 3 actors (Clark Gable, Charles Laughton and Franchot Tone) nominated for Best Actor. This resulted in the creation of the Best Supporting Actor category the following year.

Reuben crossed off Cook and went with Bligh, the right response. He doubled his score to $14,400.

Caitlin had Cook and didn’t cross him off. That cost her $3,600 and left her with $3,600.

Patrick also thought it was Cook. He lost $4,800 but won the game with the $15,400 he had left. Patrick’s 2-day total is $45,400.

Cook had been dead for over 10 years in 1789…

I thought Ken threw some shade at Patrick with his comment about him making so much of his money on DDs. That’s what you do!

I got FJ, and, unusually, more than half of the TS.

As for Celebrity Jeopardy!, I applaud those contestants that are trying, and deplore the comedians.

Hey VJ, did you know that last night they had a new episode of Celebrity Jeopardy. It now runs every Thursday night until February 2nd. Could you post last night’s celebrity jeopardy recap please?

Now on today’s show we almost had a triple stumper to wrap up the week but thankfully we didn’t. If Reuben did not cross off Cook and stayed with his first instinct then all three players would have the same incorrect response. After a bad start as all 3 players were in the red Patrick ran away with another game and is now a 2 day champion.

    • VJ says:

Yes, Kevin, I know they moved Celebrity Jeopardy to Thursday night but, unfortunately, I won’t have time to recap it until Saturday when I have less other work.

I’ve lost interest in Celebrity Jeopardy. I watch Law and Order in that time slot on Thursday. Nothing was going to stop me from watching it….Not even Celebrity Jeopardy can make me not watch that show. The Jeopardy producers are taking their viewers for granted imo by changing the night and time. We do watch other TV programs.
