TWO of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
WHAT IS “THE ILIAD”?
“The Iliad” is an epic poem consisting of 24 books that relates events from the last year of the Trojan War. Its authorship is attributed to the Greek poet Homer, although often debated. FactsandDetail.com says: “Before Homer’s time the story was a poem sung by story tellers who passed it down orally from generation to generation, no doubt with changes made in the story to keep audiences on the edges of their seats.” Homer is also credited with writing “The Odyssey,” which takes place after the fall of Troy.
From 2016: ALEXANDER POPE $800: Although he knew little Greek, Pope took on the task of translating these 2 Homeric works
Sophia got it right. She bet it all and doubled her score to $13,600.
Rohit misunderstood the clue and had “the Trojan War.” He bet and lost it all.
Justin got it right, too. He bet $42 for a $25,342 finish. He already had the semi-final spot in the bag.
Reversal: EXTRACURRICULAR ($1200) Get your box or Delta ones of these soaring– just be sure not to fly them over an airport or power lines – Justin’s response of “drones” was accepted when the judges found that the clue wording didn’t only apply to kites.
A triple stumper from each round:
KINGS & QUEENS ($1000) A 2014 play was titled this, the expected name & number of the current heir to the British throne
MUSIC I’M NOT FAMILIAR WITH ($2000) This “Father” was on the Tastemakers Chart in 2018 with “God’s Favorite Customer”

It seems that no one so far has picked up on the significance of Justin’s $42 wager. 42 was the “answer to the meaning of life, the universe, and everything” from Douglas Adam’s the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
Thanks for the info, Kurt 😃
Justin mentioned a table? he had seen or made? Can someone tell me what he was speaking of? And that it is now in Champaign, Illinois.
@Rhonda Hughes, Justin was talking about the table made by Theodore Gray. There’s a YouTube video with Gray showing the table and its contents.
As for the table Justin made, Trebek said it was a table of his favorite authors but Justin didn’t go into that one.
Thank you VJ! I will check it out!
Thanks VJ & William. I love these Teen Tournaments. My favorite teen contestant after all of these years was Cooper Lair. Wow he was sharp against upper class contestants. However he came in 2nd to Jeff but made a good showing in the finals. Justin, today, reminded me of him. Justin is one to watch imo in this Teen Tournament based upon his performance. We still have 2 more days to watch the remaining contestants and their performance.
Thanks Jacob, but I think you meant Alan Koolik, and I thought for sure that he was going to win the 2014 JEOPARDY! Teen Tournament, based on his performances, up until the final game, but Jeff Xie beat him on a tiebreaker question, while Cooper Lair finished in 3rd place.
@William, you are correct. It was so long ago I forgot about that exciting finale. Cooper Lair just stood out in my mind. Thanks again.
Cooper just won’t let Josiah Takang and Selena Groh go faster due to his dominant performance.
Selena Groh did well enough in her quarter-final game, but Cooper Lair & Joe Taglic were both way faster than Selena in her semi-final game. As for Josiah Takang, he struggled in the latter part, and things didn’t work out for him, and he was the 1st player to be eliminated. In the 1st game of the Finals, Alan Koolik & Jeff Xie were much faster than Cooper. In the 2nd game of the Finals, Cooper did make up for his slow performance in the 1st game, by catching up, and making it a good game heading into Final Jeopardy!, but it wasn’t enough to beat either Alan or Jeff.
I think this is the 2nd time in a row in which we have 1 Freshman & 2 Juniors in 1 quarter-final match of a Teen Tournament, and the 1 Freshman beats the 2 Juniors. The 1st time was in the 4th quarter-final match of the 2016 JEOPARDY! Teen Tournament in Washington, D.C. Connor Pierce was the freshman, and Antonio Karides & Lucia Geng were the juniors. However, in that situation, the juniors were ahead of the freshman going into Final Jeopardy!, but the freshman won, because Connor got Final Jeopardy!, and almost wagered everything, and Antonio & Lucia also got it right, but neither 1 of them wagered enough to cover him. However, Antonio & Lucia’s scores were good enough to clinch the 1st 2 Wild-Card spots. So, all 3 players advanced to the semi-finals.
Well since alison and rohit are both out. Let’s hope Sophia’s wild card spot doesn’t become jeopardized. Although the trojan war wasn’t a bad guess, the clue specifically asked for the book by Homer and not the war event. Still a decent game today VJ.
Yes, it was a great game. What a performance by Justin! Tough break for Rohit at the end.

@VJ, if I am not mistaken the lowest class student or the youngest student has won the last 3 games. If true that’s amazing.
Jacob, true for today (freshman beats 2 juniors) and yesterday (junior beats 2 seniors). On Monday, freshman Teagan beat an 8th grader and a junior.
Justin was so good in this game. I’m definitely seeing him make the Finals.
