WHO IS SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS?

Stephen Hillenburg was the creative force behind SpongeBob. The “absorbent and yellow and porous” animated character “who lives in a pineapple under the sea” began life in Hillenburg’s Intertidal Zone comic as Bob the Sponge. He was not able to interest comic book publishers in his creation but while working at Nickelodeon, he used the comic as the inspiration for the SpongeBob cartoon series we all know today. This was the FJ clue in Ken Jennings’ 7th game (Ken won $9,400 on it): ENTERTAINMENT: This title character who debuted in 1999 was created by former marine biology educator Steve Hillenburg

Jim-Bob thought it was Aquaman. He lost $8,390, leaving him with a sawbuck.

Sara got it right. She bet $5,201, bumping her up to $16,801.

James got it, too. He bet $18,000, winning this game with $59,381. His 29-day total is $2,254,938.

$267,762 left. At this rate, he needs to WIN at least $89,254. I think a giant killer will come IF he passed Ken Jennings’ record, the winnings AND the length of his stay.

I think the Daily Doubles should be harder. They have been too easy.

    • VJ says:

Well, I think they have been harder than the Final Jeopardy clue on most days

      (no offense about Dora. lol)

  3. Patrick Mallon says:

Richard Corliss, we still have ways to go.

  4. albert says:

I had Dora the Explorer as the Final.

#1 how much does jeopardy make per show – especially now with jimbob????
#2 are they that cheap – hell yes, the 2nd and 3rd place winners get 2k and 1k – can u afford it jeopardy – give them what they won and stop with the peanuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#3 jimbob may make it 100 wins and over 8 million!!! go jimbob

#4 bring Jennings out of retirement along with other champs and have a champions week!! or month – with the totals per week given a point etc etc

Holzhauer’s number of wins is still below THom McKee (43 games) and Kit Salisbury (38 games) on Tic Tac Dough. I think those are the only two players on US game shows whose number of wins is above Holzhauer besides Ken Jennings. Alex invoked Thom McKee’s name in 2004 during Ken’s run a couple of times.

  7. Lou says:

James is literally on fire today. Congratulations to him and Sara on getting final right today. I thought Jim Bob knew something about spongebob and yet he went with aquaman? That guy came out way before spongebob squarepants. Also VJ your kids enjoyed this cartoon when they were young right? Do they still watch it?

    • VJ says:

idk, Lou, I guess tidal made him think of the ocean and that made him think of Aquaman. Kinda funny, really, when back in James’ 11th game, Aquaman was the answer and “C. King” in the clue didn’t make two of the players think of “Sea King”

My kids have long outgrown SpongeBob. Two of my grandkids have, too. But of course, we all still know the theme song (which Hillenburg co-wrote).
