WHAT IS THE IRON CURTAIN?

Winston Churchill used the metaphor “Iron Curtain” in a 5/12/1945 message to Harry S. Truman (“An iron curtain is drawn down upon their front. We do not know what is going on behind”); and in a March 5, 1946 speech in Missouri (“From Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic an iron curtain has descended across the continent”). Both quotes have been the subject of prior Jeopardy! clues. In this video, Dr. Byrd explains the Iron Curtain and has a handy map at about 2:25, with a line reflecting Churchill’s words from the Baltic to the Adriatic.

Katie went all in and doubled her score to $18,400.

Sam bet $5,602 and finished with $16,402.

Meggie bet $5,201 and won the semi-final spot with $21,601. Awesome game! Katie and Sam are looking good for Wild Cards.

Congrats to today’s teachers on getting final right. Well played game. Much Better than yesterday so there are still two more wildcards available. Plus even if that Shakespeare daily double eluded meggie, it won’t hurt her in the long run. Let’s hope tomorrow will have more triple solves. Speaking of the iron curtain, the command and conquer red alert series has this weapon to make vehicles invulnerable as mentioned by Einstein.
