WHAT IS ARCADIA?

According to Greek Gods and Goddesses, “Arcadia is a place that is both a real geographical location, as well as a mythological place from Ancient Greek Mythology.” The mythological Arcadia was inhabited by nymphs, dryads, centaurs, as well as several gods and goddesses. It was believed that Pan, half man and half goat, lived there. It was also the dwelling of Hermes, messenger of the gods, said to be Pan’s father in some versions.

Later in the article, it says: “The real-life area of Arcadia in Greece is also a place that’s mostly separated from the rest of the land with tall, continuous ranges of mountains, which could easily serve as the base for such mystical stories to be born and be kept alive over many centuries.”

Brad came up with Bucolia. He bet and lost it all.

James got it right. He bet 11,381, bringing him up to 34,181.

Ken got it, too. He bet the whole 32,800 and finished with 65,600. So there’s Ken with such a big lead that they brought the trophy out on stage in anticpation of his winning the second half of this match.

I’m trying to figure out why after watching Ken Jennings through 74 games and years of competing on other shows that I just noticed last night that he is left-handed and this is a re-run. Perhaps ambidextrous might be more appropriate because he does some things with his right hand. But I just noticed last night he wrote fj response with his left hand. Am I alone in this observation? Not that it matters but it surprised me that I just noticed it.

I generally watch their facial expressions during FJ!, Jacob. Never would have noticed that unless it was pointed out, as you just did.

VJ, thank you for making me feel sane. I’m with you in that I normally watch their facial expressions. I got curious and googled “Ken Jennings left handed.” Sure enough he stated on Twitter that he is left-handed. That’s interesting because he holds the buzzer with his right hand. I think this staying at home probably has me zooming in on things I never did before or just zooming. LOL.

On tonight’s show it wasn’t as obvious but last night’s show the camera was lingering on Ken writing during fj and I watched with surprised eyes.

        • VJ says:

Yes, that’s so true — when watching reruns or watching the same film again, you say to yourself “I can’t believe I didn’t notice that before” when you spot things you missed the first time around. 😁

The clues today were a lot tougher than the ones from before. I thought brad could have gotten momentum today but the other two were too quick on the buzzer. I have a feeling that some of the categories were not in Brad’s favor. There is still a chance he could turn this around but he won’t win the whole thing.

Tough categories my family don’t like are Initials to roman numerals, triple rhyme time, and before and after.
