Final Jeopardy: Civil War People (4-27-20)
There were 2 reversals in the 4/27/2020 Jeopardy! game:
WHO MADE THAT ($400) Here’s a switch… the game called “Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020” – Matt was docked for his “Sega” answer. Sarah got it with Nintendo. The judges decided to accept Matt’s response and he was awarded $400 right before the chat.
POTPOURRI ($1000) Check out this two-word boat item as it goes soaring through the air; I like the cut of yours – Sarah had to give back $1,000 for her “jib” answer. It was supposed to be the two-word “flying jib”. Alex felt that he somehow misled her so she did not get a wrong response penalty.
Here are 5 more triple stumpers from the game:
POTPOURRI ($800) 15% of a U.S. ton is this many pounds
STARTS WITH “Z” ($800) Literally meaning “golden”, it’s the basic monetary unit of Poland
($1000) Native to Austria & Germany, it’s the instrument being played here
Note: this is not the tune played on the show. I had to improvise. If you don’t know the correct response, start the video from the beginning.
GENERAL HOSPITAL ($400) A code of this color is widely used to call out a medical emergency all over the facility
HOLY SMOKE ($1600) Some religious ceremonies feature one of these smoky incense carriers
Answers to the Sneak Peek clues — UH, PHRASING…
($400) Meaning to “achieve a goal”, “there’s more than one way” to do this, but why bring the feline into it
($800) An idiom suggests not doing this “to spite your face”; why would you even consider it?!
($1200) I’ve heard it said, “don’t throw the baby out with” this liquid; what is the matter with you people?
($1600) Actors don’t like “good luck” before shows, but this 3-word alternative seems awfully painful
($2000) This 2-word term for someone deemed attractive yet chaotic has origins in warm foods served in the 19th century

Some amusing answers tonight. “Lima” for the 4-letter diet/S American capital, and “zydeco” for the German-Austrian “z-instrument”.
and let’s not forget the best one: Chaka Khan !!!
Hey thanks for this page. I was watching tonight’s episode (DVR’ed) and had to re-watch the “flying jib” question three times, to make sure he said “two-word boat item”. I googled that phrase (before watching the next segment) and this page came up! 🙂

Tough final jeopardy as we got a triple stumper.
Three ladies tomorrow. Hasn’t happened on a Tuesday in regular-play since February 7, 2017.
How many games this season do we have an all ladies game? You were right about an all ladies game that we had on 2/7/17.
Tomorrow will be the eighth time this season.
Can you name the dates so far this season with an all female game.
Well a tough clue to start this week. I picked sherman but McClellan didn’t come to me VJ. You probably chose grant as well right? If anyone here is an ER fan or Greys anatomy, no one should have problems remembering the defibrillator to give your heart a jump start. But at least Sarah broke the leader curse and I hope she can go on a long run. Hopefully tomorrow will get better.
No, Lou, I didn’t say Grant. Here’s what I said today on Spoiler Talk at 8:13 a.m.: “I got today’s clue with the general that Lincoln replaced as commander of the Army of the Potomac, who was governor of New Jersey some years after the Civil War. He has the same first name as Alex Trebek.”
You forgot to put down the reversals.
No, I didn’t, Richard. They are on Page 2
