WHAT IS “I WALK THE LINE”?
“I Walk the Line” was recorded at Sun Records in April 1956, about 2 weeks before Johnny Cash and his first wife, Vivian Liberto, had their 2nd daughter. It was his first No. 1 hit on the country charts and first gold record. Cash often said he wrote it as both a promise to Vivian and a reminder to himself to be faithful to their marriage vows. Alas, to paraphrase a line from an Eric Clapton song, how could they know that promises end. After 13 years of marriage and 4 children, the pair divorced in 1967.
Johnny Cash Museum on X: “I Walk the Line” was recorded on this day [April 2] in 1956. The gold record for this single, Johnny’s first sale award, is on display here!
“Walk the Line” is the title of a 2005 movie based on 2 Johnny Cash autobiographies, focusing mainly on his career and 2nd wife, June Carter. In “I Walked the Line: My Life with Johnny” (2008), Vivian tells her story.
Ed had “Walk the Line”, the movie title. He lost $407 and finished with $593.
Suzanne also left out the “I” in the song’s title. That cost her $4,000 and left her with $12,300.
Alex made it unanimous. He lost $7,000 but the $19,000 he had left was enough to take him to the semifinals.
A triple stumper from each round:
THE MOURNING NEWS ($800) This grief-stricken actor kept a vigil until rescue teams recovered his wife Carole Lombard’s remains after a 1942 plane crash
SOUNDS LIKE A HORROR MOVIE, BUT ISN’T ($1600) Jane Fonda had no bolts in her neck as the title family relation in this 2005 flick, but J. Lo wanted to scream anyway

VJ, there is also a documentary about Vivian that came out several years ago., though I haven’t seen it. It’s called My Darling Vivian.
Thanks for reminding me about that, Rhonda. I meant to look it up. I just looked on Amazon and it can be watched with a free trial of Doc Club. I love docs and adding that channel is only $2.99/mo, so I’m gonna sign up for that.
P.S. I saw “Walk Hard”, the parody of “Walk the Line”🤣
You’re very welcome, VJ. I love docs, too.
I guess none of them have SiriusXM in their vehicles! Or saw “Country Music” on PBS. I got FJ correct. Also, all the DD, and, about 3/4 the TS!
Alex has to be pretty sharp, if he landed an ENT spot.
Suzanne could have improved her chances if she made an aggressive move with that last DD.
All 3 went with the movie title instead of the song. Understandable, I suppose. All I could think of was “Ring of Fire.” I knew 1956 was too early for “A Boy Named Sue.”
Can’t help but wonder if Ed had more wrong than right answers. Not his night.
Did not expect them to know Lombard’s famous husband. (And frankly, I don’t give a damn.) Or the Steelers’ famous coach. I did hope someone might know the team with 7 sacks. And very disappointed no one took a stab at the Steinbeck story.
I did very well in the Jeopardy game tonight, and the FJ was another freebie.
This is the second time this season that all three players came up with the same incorrect response in FJ! All three players game an incomplete song title. It’s the third game in a row that Final was a triple stumper.
That’s why today’s final was tough and our first FJ! losing week of the season. We could get a fourth one tomorrow if the chaos continues.
I hope the chaos ends right here.
I don’t know yet.
Wow, I mentioned the possibility of thinking the movie title was the same as the song title early this morning on Spoiler Talk, but I never thought all of them would do it!
All 3 wrong over a one letter pronoun. Wow again.
