WHAT IS LAKE MEAD?

The above 12/12/2022 YouTube is about the current situation concerning the water levels of Lake Mead and Lake Powell, as well as the Colorado River. One commenter called it a “doom and gloom video” and said “But as always… no solutions.” However, it does mention measures expected to be taken in Jan. 2023 to hopefully avert a crisis in the next few years.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on 12/20/2022 that “The Southern Nevada Water Authority has a plan for how the seven states [CO, NM, UT, WY, AZ, CA, NV] that rely on the Colorado River can protect Lake Mead and Lake Powell.” The Department of the Interior has given the states until the end of Jan. 2023 “to work out a consensus agreement” so federal agencies can assess the viability of such a joint plan. If the states can’t agree, mandates could be imposed on the states “to keep water levels at Mead and Powell from reaching points that would threaten water delivery and hydropower capabilities at Hoover and Glen Canyon dams.”

Kristin bet it all and doubled her score to $21,200.

Isaac bet $19,900 for an even $40,000 finish.

Ray bet $20,000 and won the game with $42,800. His 12-day total is $354,300.

What a way to end 2022. Incredible scores, high scoring game and a big payday to wrap up the year. Ray will be heading into 2023 as a champion. Isaac played very well but came up a little short. I hope he gets selected for the Second Chance tournament next year.
