WHO IS CYRANO DE BERGERAC?

The entire quote from Edmond Rostand’s play “Cyrano de Bergerac” (1897) is: Take notice, boobies all,
Who find my visage’s center ornament
A thing to jest at—that it is my wont—
An if the jester’s noble—ere we part
To let him taste my steel, and not my boot!

I think it’s a rather loose translation of the original French (starting at “Avis donc aux badauds”).

However, I would have gone with one of the nose insults that Cyrano came up with himself to put the Viscount in his place. In particular, I liked the peninsula comparison. Watch Jose Ferrer in the above scene from the 1950 film “Cyrano de Bergerac”. Ferrer won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in that film.

Pamela thought it was Zorro (who makes the sign of the Z). She lost $2,195 and finished with $5.00.

Teja went with Laertes, Hamlet’s murderer. That cost him $2,500. He finished with $4,500.

Brayden came up with “The Man of La Mancha”. Aside from being a play title, that’s about Don Quixote. He lost $8,600 and won the game with $27,800. His 3-day total is $93,800.

    Great Summary!

  2. VJ says:

Wow, that was certainly a big surprise to me and made me wonder what they thought the word visage meant.

Also was surprised they never heard of the Black Flag product — “roaches check in but they don’t check out” LOL

We end this episode with a triple stumper.

  4. William Weyser says:

If Brayden got it right, he would have been the 15th player to win over $100,000 in just 3 Games. Thanks a lot, Cyrano de Bergerac!

  5. Lou says:

That runaway game worked in Brayden’s favor today and with that big payday, he has passed michael Bilow and Philip tiu. Congrats to him. Speaking of Cyrano, he fell for roxane, his cousin. But it is revealed that roxane is more like a mother figure who heals Cyrano’s injuries. Wasn’t christian also a love interest for roxane VJ? Brayden’s opponents couldn’t catch up to him today. Today’s triple stumper will ensure Brayden keep his wins going.

    • William Weyser says:

Actually, Michael Bilow won $96,000 & Philip Tiu won $96,598, while Brayden won $93,800. So, he has not passed those 2 yet.
