The U.K. should have been accepted for the John Bull question.

    • JP says:

Wikipedia agrees. The first sentence of their “John Bull” article:

“John Bull is a national personification of the United Kingdom in general and England in particular.”

  2. Dal Higbee says:

Will this four-game curse EVER end?

    • William Weyser says:

It will end 1 of these days, and just like this stupid thing that is still going on, G-d is afraid that if he does tell us when it’ll end, we’ll all be spoiled.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands, is practically on the west coast of Europe, so it’s definitely in Western Europe. Maybe you were thinking of someplace else.

    • Jason Smith says:

Amsterdam is 2200 miles from Lisbon on the west coast of Europe and the halfway point between Lisbon and Moscow. That’s a big stretch to say that it’s “western Europe”, and it’s certainly not “practically on the west coast”.

      • DC says:

In most cases you can look at Europe under the Iron Curtain and see the Eastern/Western Europe division, not in geometric terms, but whether it was under the USSR sphere or not. Of course the terminology predates WWII, and has other origins in culture and religion, but the Iron Curtain example generally applies.

  4. Anthony Salters says:

Is there any place where I can find a list of all the answers and questions? My 8 year old daughter got her first jeopardy answer tonight “bean bag” and I want to make sure I know what the answer was?

    • DC says:

I think you are asking for the “clue”, which was:
“This type of chair sounds like it’s filled with legumes“

The J Archive has the clues and questions. Congrats to your daughter. Get her practice for the teen tournament!

  5. Jason Smith says:

    – Is Amsterdam considered western Europe? It’s pretty much in the middle of the continent.
    – Wouldn’t “breadbasket” also be acceptable for “prarie” provinces?
    – There is a firework called “Black Mamba”. I don’t know if it fits the rest of the clue, but it’s possible that it was actually a correct answer.

    Lots to talk about.

    • JP says:

      1. The question of Western Europe was well addressed above. “Western Europe” has more to do with history and politics than geography.

      2. Saskatchewan, by itself, is known as the breadbasket of Canada, so the clue seems fine as the only name commonly used to include all 3 is “Prairie Provinces”.

      3. A quick google search of “black mamba firework” makes me very skeptical that a safer version could be created with “baking soda and sugar”, as the clue says.

Can you go back to giving the categories thr triple stumpers are from? The changes made to this page in the past couple of months are not good, in my opinion

    • klm says:

James, kindly read the following note after the player intros near the top of the page:
“Note: This is Nikki, VJ’s daughter, filling in for my Mom while she is in the hospital, in case you missed her message on the Jeopardy Calendar post. Due to my own time constraints, the recaps will be shorter than usual, but my Mom will work her magic when she returns. “

    • VJ says:

Yes, James, we will go back to the usual format when I get back home. My daughter was kind enough to keep up with the daily posts on top of online school with two 5-year olds and her own job. In light of those circumstances, I’m sure you will agree she is doing an excellent job!

      Thanks for your patience.

  7. Lou says:

The four game curse has been put on ryan just like Andy. But still he played brilliantly and is now qualified for the tournament of champions. That daily double on skipper cost Ryan the streak. Maybe tj can try to do what Ryan couldn’t do. Congrats to him and Denise on getting final jeopardy. Looks like Steve Mould is out of the top 15.

    • William Weyser says:

You left out the S at the end of Steve’s last name. It’s Steve Moulds, and other than Kevin Walsh, we have not had another 5-Time Champion. If I am convinced that somebody won 5 Games, for once, I want to be proven right, and also, for once, I’d like to see somebody, who won 4 Games, score a runaway in their 5th Game. That way, they don’t have to worry about being on the bubble, in terms of 4-Time Champions in the Tournament Of Champions.
