This adjective once indicated craftsmanship; now it means “fake” show
Beth found the last Daily Double in “We Share That Water” under the $1,600 clue, with 8 clues left after it. In second place with $7,800, she had $5,600 less than Ellen’s lead. She bet $4,800 and was only half right so her answer was WRONG.

NONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
WHAT ARE “ROSEBUD” & “PLASTICS”?
In this countdown video of the Top 47 AFI Movie Quotes, “Rosebud” from Citizen Kane (1941) is at 5.33. That’s Orson Welles uttering Charles Foster Kane’s dying word. Rosebud was his childhood sled. That is the only quote from Citizen Kane on the entire list.
“Plastics” from “The Graduate” (1967) is at 1.04 in the video. In context: at the party celebrating Ben’s (Dustin Hoffman) graduation from college, Mr. McGuire (character actor Walter Brooks) tells Ben there’s a great future in plastics. Also on the list from “The Graduate” at No. 63: “Mrs. Robinson, you’re trying to seduce me. Aren’t you?”
Ben wrote down “What are nuts and”. Alex said he could have put “bolts” for humor. Ben only lost $302 and finished with $4,798.
Beth went with “Stella” for the first one. (That was a 1951 film). That’s all she wrote and she lost $4,801, dropping her down to $599.
Ellen was half right with “Rosebud” but she, too, was stumped on the second quote. She lost $3,000 and won the game with $11,200. Ellen Keane is the new Jeopardy! champ.
A triple stumper from each round:
BACK TO BLACK ($800) Germans enjoy a sandwich of this black bread, slathered with lard, between 2 slices of rye
CELEBRITY ARTISTS ($2000) Among this African-American actor’s paintings are self-portraits as Lando Calrissian
2 years ago: NONE of the players got this FJ in “Familiar Phrases”
In the 1870s this phrase meant a hairdo, using a British word for bangs; now it’s an extreme group on the edge of a cause. show

Loved that FJ clue, mostly because I figured out both words about halfway through the music.
I think that only 1 of the 2 quotes should have been required. Getting both is toooo hard.
Second triple stumper in a row that everyone didn’t get. Surely the contestants must have heard of Dustin Hoffman and many of his quotes. I used to have a vhs video of Citizen Kane but I am not sure where it is now. Anyway congrats to Ellen. Although I am not certain if she can build a streak but we will see.
Alex said it was a tough clue even before he read it, so I don’t think he expected anyone to get it. I gotta say I’ve seen “The Graduate” twice. Once when I was a teenager and about 20 something years later, and I don’t see anything remotely memorable or funny about that line. It makes no sense out of context. Besides, I like movie and TV quotes that you can pop out with in everyday life when an opportune occasion arises….
What did I ever do to make you treat me so disrespectfully?
or that you can adapt…
Go ahead… Make my popcorn!
Anyhow here’s a link to a poll of one-word movie quotes on IMDB — it’s still open but right now:
“Rosebud” got 812 votes (and it’s not No. 1 at this time)
“Plastics” got 90 votes

I had a bad feeling when I saw that lynx clue, VJ, that definitely calls for a “horrified” emoticon!
yeah, Rhonda, wow! wikipedia’s article on the Canada lynx has a rather oddly worded subheading — “relationship with the snowshoe hare” – the first sentence describes the lynx as a “specialist predator” OMG!
Yikes, VJ!!!! Better keep to my burrow!!
