Made out of terracotta, sloppy clay poured into formation, the gnomes sent waves through the United Kingdom as soon as they set foot on British shores…. Of the original 21 gnomes brought back from Germany, only one still exists today. Isham’s daughters, who hated the gnomes, removed 20 of them from their property…. The gnome that got away was Lampy, and he has happily made his home at Lamport Hall since his immigration from Germany in 1847. Over 150 years old, he is considered the oldest garden gnome in the world.

Joyee got it right. He bet $2,799 and finished with $14,799, $1.00 less than Elise’s pre-FJ score. Alex asked him if he made a math mistake. He said “possibly a mistake,” but what difference did it make? Elise still had to be wrong for him to win.
Elise was right, too, however. She bet $10,000 and won the game with $24,800. Her 3-day total is $79,600.

Question for you Professors of Jeopardy, if you please.
My wife and I have a contest for Final Jeopardy. My answer last night was “gnomes.” Would this be an acceptable answer? Hopefully, yes. I already did the Victory Dance – a dance we do when none of the contestants gets the right answer. I don’t want to take it back.

Joyee’s bet certainly cost him the game. He thought Elise might be wrong, but she got it right anyhow. He thought he could easily defeat Elise with 14799? I didn’t think so. But still another win for Elise. I think she could definitely run a streak like Gilbert Collins did. Also VJ, when you were doing gardening during the spring and summer, did you ever set up Garden Gnomes in where you are? After a carousel of leader curses in October, Elise broke the curse.
Lou, maybe I’m nuts but the way I see it, the only scenario in which you can say Joyee’s bet cost him the game would be if he got it right with that bet while Elise got it wrong and bet nothing.

P.S. I don’t do any gardening to begin with because of some allergies I developed. Garden gnomes wouldn’t appeal to me even if I did. Some years ago (pre-allergies), I set up a bird house and feeder in the backyard and got some binoculars with the intention of showing my daughter some colorful fine-feathered friends.
Birds certainly have a great communication system though– every pigeon in town showed up. When I saw a big bird swoop down and knock a little bird off the feeder, that was the end of that!
I just heard that the College Championship will start on April 6th.
