Final Jeopardy: Fauxbituaries (10-7-14)
The Final Jeopardy question (10/7/2014), in the category “Fauxbituaries” was:
He received a real obituary in the Albuquerque Journal in 2013 noting his “long battle with lung cancer”.
New champ Terri Pous won $23,601 yesterday. Today she is up against these two players: Carol McGhee, from Chicago, IL; and Brendan McParland, from Rockville, MD.
Round 1: Brandon found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Make Room” under the $1,000 clue. In second place with $3,200, he had $1,400 less than Terri’s lead. He bet $2,000 and thought it was the salon. That was WRONG.

Terri finished in the lead with $5,200. Carol was second with $2,400 and Brendan was last with $1,200.
Round 2: Brandon found the first Daily Double in “Short Stories” under the $1,600 clue. He was in second place with $5,200, $800 behind Carol and Terri who were leading with a $6,000 tie. He bet $2,000 and he was RIGHT.

Brandon found the last Daily Double in “Straits” under the $1,200 clue. Terri and Carol were still tied, but they only had $5,200 now. Brandon had $4,800. He bet $1,000 and he was RIGHT.
Cities lying on this strait include Tarifa, Spain & Ksar Es Seghir, Morroco. show
Terri finished in the lead with a runaway at $11,200 that she managed to achieve in the last category “American War Heroes). Brendan was next with $4,200 and Carol was in third place with $3,600.
Only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
WHO IS WALTER WHITE?
Fans of AMC’s “Breaking Bad” series (2008-2013) placed an obituary for its anti-hero, Walter White in the October 4, 2013 issue of the Albuquerque Journal, that read in part: “White, Walter aka ‘Heisenberg’, 52, of Albuquerque, died Sunday after a long battle with lung cancer, and a gunshot wound…. He is survived by his wife, Skyler Lambert; son Walter ‘Flynn’ Jr.; and daughter Holly…. He will be greatly missed.” The obituary is shown in this video with the whole story of how it made headlines all over the internet and how editions of that day’s newspaper ended up on eBay with bids as high as $25.00.
Jeopardy! has had quite a few clues on “Breaking Bad” since 2009. Check them out on J-Archive. This is actually the second FJ referring to the series this year. The first was on 4-16-2014 in the category “TV Music”.
Carol couldn’t think of anyone who fit the bill. She lost her $3,500 bet and finished with $100.
Brendan came up with “Mark Twain”. He bet and lost it all.
Terri got it right. Her $2,000 bet brought her winning total up to $13,200. Her 2-day total is $36,801.
So there were no wild bets from Terri in this game. In fact, at times it seemed like Brendan was the only one playing. Unfortunately for him, it also seemed like he was getting as many wrong as he did right.
During the chat, Terri talked about being a neighbor of John Glenn and trick or treating at his home.
2 years ago:: Only ONE of the players got this FJ in “Stores”

Just for the record the obit was not listed within the section of obituaries…..out of respect it was listed separately in another part of the paper.
yeah, that is mentioned in the video.
I wonder if Carol knows where Terri lives.
this was a tough one. good for terri that she got it, i thought it might be a triple stumper. apparently she was watching the show, but since it was a runaway she would have won anyway, so congratulations. at least there was no need for a weird bet on fj, like the one she placed yesterday. THAT bet did not make any sense, she would have been short by 2 K. today she left everybody in the dust AND got fj right to boot, so a nice almost 37K for 2 days.
