ALL of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.

WHO IS FREDDIE MERCURY?

Freddie Mercury was and continues to be a rock icon. The frontman of the British rock band Queen passed away in 1991 at the age of 45. The quote in the clue is from a 2019 NYT article about Marc Martel, who provided some of the Freddie Mercury vocals in the film “Bohemian Rhapsody” (2018). Gavin Edwards wrote that Martel “is a vocal doppelgänger for the Queen frontman,” noting that “It was a compliment, given how Mercury was one of the great singers in rock history, possessing a pellucid tone, a three-octave range and an operatic quality that could make even paeans to bicycle riding sound emotional.”

Some sources claim that Freddie Mercury had a four-octave range. Incredibly, scientists got into the act in 2015 to prove or disprove that! They could not confirm four octaves.

Scott bet it all and brought his score up to $6,600.

Lisa bet $12,397 to finish with $24,797.

Carmela bet $5,201 and won the game with $24,801. Carmela Chan is the new Jeopardy! champ.

We have yet to see someone win $30,000 or more in a single day.

  2. William Weyser says:

A lot of times where I see 1 player mess up by adding 1 letter or word, or leave off 1 letter or word, it makes me want to punch the word, or say “YOU’LL PAY FOR THIS!”. Yes, I know that I am being way too picky about this, and this has to stop, and right, these are just little mistakes, but still.

Here is the link to the Bicycle Races song (a concert performance, not the official video with all the “fat bottomed girls”). I never thought of it as a “paean” nor did it sound emotional to me.

Two kids in my family practically drove me nuts about 10 years ago playing the intro to “We Will Rock You” over and over. 🤣🤣 And “Bohemian Rhapsody” is one of the songs that my older kids were shocked to find out I knew before them.

    • JP says:

I had never heard the song, its title or any of its lyrics, before this morning. I was wondering why you would not have linked to the official video, but it didn’t take much research for me to formulate a guess as to that.

      • VJ says:

yeah, JP, I could have linked to it with a warning but this way, everyone can safely look at it if they want. Those who want to see the other one can look it up.

($800) Bolt action; AR, also called modern sporting
    Assault rifle?

Assault rifles are capable of fully automatic or burst fire.
A bolt action is .not an assault rifle. It is a manual action.
An AR or modern sporting rifle is not an assault rifle. They are semi-automatic rifles.
I was surprised by this as Jeopardy is usually more accurate..

    • Michael says:

Agreed. I was disappointed to see the response was not only initially accepted, but not corrected after the break. Trivia: “AR” does not stand for “assault rifle” or “automatic rifle,” it stands for “ArmaLite” the name of the manufacturer.

This clue was my Achilles heel. It’s equivalent to most contestants not performing well in the Sports categories. This is not my genre of music. Anyone who claims they know everything imo is not being truthful. I am honest enough to own up to what I don’t know and admit it. This is one of many things in life I don’t know. I never heard of this singer. But thanks to VJ and her research I got a little information on the lead singer. Thanks VJ.

  6. Lou says:

Glad to see a triple solve here today despite one daily double not nailed. Lisa almost had the game locked in her favor but carmela came out strong today. I feel that she could perhaps get a streak running as long as she doesn’t fumble on a few clues. Scott played well but he couldn’t keep up with the ladies.

Why is the board sometimes incomplete?
