WHAT IS “REAR WINDOW”?

James Stewart plays photographer L.B. “Jeff” Jefferies in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1954 thriller “Rear Window.” Stuck in a wheelchair with a broken leg, he takes up spying on his NYC courtyard neighbors. They include the scantily clad dancer (Georgine Darcy) he dubs “Miss Torso.” Suspicious activities by Lars Thorwald (Raymond Burr) lead Jeff to believe Thorwald murdered his wife. He also thinks Thorwald killed the “digging dog” so it wouldn’t uncover evidence of the crime.

“Rear Window” is No. 48 on AFI’s 2007 list of the 100 Best Films of All Time. The cast includes three Best Actor/Actress Oscar winners: James Stewart (1940’s “The Philadelphia Story”), Grace Kelly (1954’s “The Country Girl”), and Gig Young (1969’s “They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?”). Also, the film’s score was composed by 2x Best Music Oscar winner, Franz Waxman. See more “Rear Window” trivia on IMDB

Kari wrote down “The Maltese Falcon.” She bet and lost it all.

Anthony got it right. He bet $16,399 and finished with $32,799.

Steve got it right, too. He bet $10,801 and won the game with $32,801. His 2-day total is $54,002.

Kari’s family had a history of appearing on game shows, as per her contestant interview. Kari Bale’s maiden name as per her FB appears to be Doyle. US Search she is related to Kandi Doyle. Kandi Doyle is the name of a contestant who won on Password Plus in 1979 and 12 matches on Blockbusters in 1981

Kari couldn’t get things going today.

I liked this game a lot and it was much better after 9 days of leader curses. And Also congrats to the two people on getting this right. Although I haven’t seen this movie for a long time, but I wonder if one of the clues in the gargoyle category mentioned about a cartoon that deals with Gargoyles or maybe the disney movie Hunchback of Notre Dame, VJ?

I hope steve continues his streak of wins.

    • VJ says:

Yes, Lou, they had this for the $400 clue in that category: The singing gargoyles in this 1996 Disney cartoon are named Victor, Hugo & Laverne

  4. VJ says:

That was a pretty good game with Steve lucking out on those second round DDs to help him win the game and break the one-day champ chain.

I would like to tell Alex how I got that Omar Khayyam triple stumper today. My father used to call my brother Omar the Facemaker (lol) and I asked him where he got that from (the title of a movie)
