Jessica found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Southern Cities” under the $600 clue on the third pick of the round. She was in second place with $800, $200 less than James’ lead. She bet $1,000 and she was RIGHT.

Jessica finished in the lead with $7,600. James was in second place with $7,000. Molly was last with $2,800. All clues were shown.
Round 2 Categories: Historical Wear – Poets & Poetry – It Has a Name – Crossword Clues “M” – There’s a Sequel – Medical Drama
James found the first Daily Double in “Historical Wear” under the $1,600 clue on the 5th pick of the round. He was in second place with $6,600 now, $1,000 less than Jessica’s lead. James bet $4,699 and he was RIGHT.
In 1921 he ditched western suits for a shawl & a loincloth called a dhoti show
James got the last Daily Double in “Poets & Poetry” under the $2,000 on the 11th pick of the round. In first place with $16,899, he had $9,299 more than Jessica in second place. James bet $2,569 and tried Genesis at the last second. That was WRONG.

James finished in the lead with $19,930. Jessica was in second place with $15,600 and Molly was last with $10,400. All clues were shown.

Per Wikipedia, Kazakhstan’s border with Russia is 4,750 miles; with China, 1,107.75 miles. Mongolia’s border with Russia is 2,145 miles; with China, 2,880; North Korea’s border with Russia is 10.7 miles; with China, 840.
Back in March of 2014, the day after Diana Peloquin defeated Arthur Chu, you had to know about the border between Russia and North Korea in order to get Final Jeopardy! I had a link to this article about train travel across that border to Russia and China on there. It has pictures and a review from Stephen King, although obviously not THE Stephen King. (Surely, the famous author doesn’t refer to T.P. as “loo paper”)
Molly had Mongolia & North Korea. She bet $5,200 and finished with $15,600.
Jessica had Kazakhstan & Mongolia. She bet $13,000 and finished with $28,600.
James had Mongolia & North Korea. He bet $10,999 and finished with $30,929.
If this was a one-day affair, James would be the winner. But it’s a 2-day affair. This was a great game and, judging from the scores, tomorrow’s gonna be off the hook! Today’s scores will be added to the scores at the end of tomorrow’s match to determine the winner. At the top of the show, Ken revealed the prizes: Third Place: $10,000. Second Place: $20,000. WINNER: $35,000 plus a spot in the 2022 Tournament of Champions.

Geography not my strong suit, but I guessed all 3 of the FJ nations correctly.
I’m surprised they gave James credit for his Final response – the “K” in Korea looked like an “R”.
That was a lights out Jeopardy! round, and DJ was only a little less. The missed DD about poetry I got, because I’m a very minor Milton scholar.
And my two were Kazakhstan and Mongolia! I think tonight will be another barn burner (or, at least I hope!).

VJ, during the finals of the College Championship 2/14/12 you had also posted a fantastic map of that entire region. The fj clue was almost similar to today’s but with a twist. Told you I study Fikkle Fame. I’m betting the contestants do as well. In that game there were 2 correct responses in fj.

@VJ, No, no. I study Fikkle Fame and review it over and over most evenings when I have time. I think a lot of people think of J! Archive to study from. I prefer Fikkle Fame because you provide additional detailed information about each final jeopardy from which I can study in greater detail. I learn a lot that way. I think I studied that map recently a few weeks ago and that’s how I recall.
Just as I stated once before I learn a lot from your write-up and Mark’s write-up on sports.
That’s great to hear! I have learned so much myself over all these years from the websites I’ve looked up and shared, from J-Archive and from visitors and, of course, Jeopardy! itself and the contestants. And most especially from regular posters like you, Jacob, who have made this site such a worthwhile and enjoyable endeavor for me.
