Only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.

WHO IS TINKERBELL?

Peter Pan says this line in both the 1904 play “Peter Pan” and the 1911 novel “Peter Pan and Wendy” by J.M. Barrie: “”She is quite a common fairy. She is called Tinker Bell because she mends the pots and kettles.” In the novel, it is in Chapter 3, “Come, Come Away!.” You can read or listen to that on Lit2Go.

Good to know: They used this twice: “In an early version of “Peter Pan”, this fairy was called Tippy-Toe.” Once for $200 and once for $1200.

Mark wrote down Holly Hobbit (really Holly Hobbie). He didn’t bet anything so he stayed at $9,400.

Alan got it right. He bet it all, bringing him up to $33,600.

Jessica came up with “fairy godmother.” She lost $16,601 and finished with $399. That put Alan Dunn over the $100K mark. He’s a 5x champ with $120,802 now. Hooray!!

In yesterday’s game did anyone else notice Trebek subtly “encourage” the woman to switch categories after 3 Triple Stumpers in a row on the category? I hate when Trebek does that. Rude, arrogant, and somewhat disrespectful is what I would call Alex’s behavior. After all, these are adults who qualified for the show in the first place.

If I were the woman I would have said, “I don’t need any prompting from you Trebek”! I wish a person would actually say that to him. Maybe I’ll get the chance some day.

      @Albert
They would probably edit such a response out. You can’t “censure” a star on national Tv…..

    • VJ says:

wow, Albert, you really would not want to do that. If it did make it to the air, you would be the one in the frying pan for being rude to the host

  2. Thomas says:

Why was Pinochet accepted when the category was A.P. Biography? I guess the first name wasn’t required.

  3. klm says:

Can someone kindly explain Alex’s pun, “You give me femur,”? I didn’t get it at all.
    Thanks.

  4. John Christian Ambion says:

Interesting. He’s got the ONLY one right, and left the young lady in tatters when she revealed her response. Anyway, I hope he will end the week as a 6-time champion and possibly challenge Kyle Jones and Ryan Fenster for the ToC final.

  5. Lou says:

Once again, congrats to Alan as he is now the second streaker of season 35. Furthermore shouldn’t drop four be called connect 4? I wonder if anyone here played that game when they were young, VJ and John? I thought for sure the other two contestants have watched Peter pan and knew about tinker bell. Holly hobbie isn’t a disney character so I think Mark might not have understood the clue. Jessica’s guess of fairy godmother isn’t bad so I will commend her for trying. Anyone here watched the movies of Peter Pan?

    • John B./I. says:

@ Lou, No and No. I know the song though: Tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor,
Rich man, poor man, beggar man, thief ….etc

Tinkers were in the old times itinerant “craftsmen” who fixed almost everything, but especially metal pots and other metal devices. Tinker is an Old German, today archaic word. And nobody travels around anymore for odd jobs…….

    • VJ says:

Wow, when Mark got that reversal before DJ started, I thought Alan’s goose was cooked for sure. Jessica and Mark were great players but still happy Alan got that 5th win!

There were 2 punny funnies in the game. LOL! — “It was the balm” and “You give me femur”

@Lou, one of my kids was Peter Pan in a school play and sang “I Gotta Crow.” Then there was the time that the youngest went with me to see my doctor. She asked me what he was (meaning what nationality) and I said he was Indian (from India). She had just seen Disney’s Peter Pan and was shocked. In a full waiting room, she yelled out “Indians are bad!” omg! Everyone laughed though.

@Lou He tried to write down, but got a little trouble in the stylus.

  6. John B./I. says:

Quintuple congratulations to Alan who is now #7 overall (including Dhruv @ Larry)> He prevented (again) a complete disaster.

    • Richard Corliss says:

Hopefully a woman would do the same thing. P.S. How tall is Alan smaller than Ben Ingram or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar?
