Xanni found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Crossword Clues “C”” under the $600 on the 16th pick of the round. He was in the second place with $3,800, $800 less than Christopher’s lead. Xanni made it a true Daily Double and she was RIGHT.

Xanni finished in the lead with $8,200. Christopher was second with $5,000 and Greg was last with $3,000. All clues were shown.
Round 2 Categories: Religion – Tough 7-Letter Words – Retired – Misheard Lyrics – Long Time – Know Sea
Greg found the first Daily Double in “Know Sea” under the $800 clue with 10 clues to go after it. He was in third place with $6,200 now, $6,000 less than Xanni’s lead. He bet it all and he was RIGHT.

5 clues later, Greg landed on the last Daily Double in “Religion” under the $800 clue. In the lead with $12,800, he had $600 more than Xanni in second place. He bet $3,000 and guessed Saturday. That was WRONG.

Xanni finished in the lead with $13,800. Greg was second with $10,600 and Christopher was last with $8,600. All clues were shown.

WHAT IS THE BRANDENBURG GATE?

Christopher thought it was Big Ben. He bet and lost his whole $8,600 so he had nothing to add to Friday’s score. He finished with $16,000.
Greg got it right. He didn’t bet anything so today’s $10,600 got added to Friday’s $35,200. He finished with $45,800.
Xanni also got it right. She bet her whole $13,800 and finished with $27,600. Adding that to Friday’s $29,600 made Xanni the winner with $57,200. She advances to the next Champions Wild Card tournament plus she won the top prize of $35,000. Greg won $20,000 and Christopher won $10,000.

Greg seemed flummoxed by that DD. I’d never heard of it, but I confidently said “Thursday”. That was the moment that lost the game for Greg.
As is frequent, Howard and I matched up – I said “l’Arc de Triomphe” also.
My local station shows J! reruns on Saturday. This past Saturday, coincidentally, was Xanni’s game, which was against Cris Pannulo.
Oops, got so involved in football that I missed the show entirely.
FJ seemed tough; I fixated on Arc de Triomphe because a friend of mine was posting pictures from there last week.
Mythology usually stumps me, but somehow, on that DD, I associated thunder god with Thor and then the pertinent weekday.
The “cabbie weekly salary” clue was a toughie, but I recalled the film involved a political campaign, so not a stumper on that DD.
A dear friend of mine had one o’ them Gremlins in the 70s, so that one was easy. The 7-letter “naked as” creature was a softie. Hurricane “W” was pretty memorable and not too long after Katrina.
PS: My friend Sharon’s 2nd chance show is Tuesday. Today she announced that she finished in the top 3.
One of her opponents is a young Harvard student.
