Celtics Beat Warriors for 14th Straight Win

The best of the East met the best of the West on November 16th as the Boston Celtics hosted the Golden State Warriors. Boston, at the top of the Eastern Conference standings, entered the game with a record of 13-2, with those 13 wins all coming in one winning streak, while Golden State, leading the Western Conference, was 11-3.

After Draymond Green hit a three pointer with 6:47 to go in the third quarter to give the Warriors a 62-47 lead, it looked like the Celtics winning streak was over. But Boston rallied after that and it was tied at 68-68 going into the 4th quarter. The score seesawed back and forth in the final quarter, with the Celtics scoring the final six points of the game on free throws to put it away 92-88.

Jaylen Brown led Boston with 22 points, doing so while mourning the death of a close childhood friend the day before. Kyrie Irving added 16 points. Boston’s defense continues to shine; the Celtics continue to lead the NBA in fewest points allowed with 94.1. The 14-2 Celtics will take to the road for their next three games, and have an excellent chance to extend the streak with games at Atlanta (3-12), Dallas (2-13) and Miami (6-8). The Warriors continue their road trip with games at Philadelphia, Brooklyn, and Oklahoma City. Golden State (11-4) is now a half game behind the Houston Rockets (12-4) after the Rockets beat Phoenix 142-116. The game marked the season debut of point guard Chris Paul, who had been out with an injury, making the Rockets even more formidable.

Kyrie has become more of a force since becoming vegan. The Celtics look great after overhauling a team that went to the conference championship.
