Boardwalk Empire: Is Mickey Doyle Next

Eli Thompson wanted to know why Mickey Doyle was still alive when he got out of jail last week. Well, maybe Eli won’t have to wonder too much longer. In the preview for “Bone for Tuna,” we saw Mickey getting a little too big for his britches, implying that he was the one who knocked off Manny Horvitz.

You may recall that this Boardwalk Empire character is loosely based on gangster Mickey Duffy, who “owned nightclubs and speakeasies in Philadelphia, ran breweries throughout New Jersey.”

Duffy was killed in Atlantic City in 1931. The D’Alessio brothers were killed off on a much earlier timeline than the Lanzetti brothers, the real people they were based on, so maybe Mickey will meet the same fate.

He certainly seems like the most dispensable character, not counting Owen Slater who is entirely fictional. Owen’s a lot more popular with viewers than Mickey, but after what happened to Jimmy Darmody, we’re not too sure the writers take that into account!
