Blues One Win Away from Being Stanley Cup Champion

Prior to this season, the St. Louis Blues had been in three Stanley Cup Finals and were swept each time in four games. After beating the Boston Bruins 2-1 on June 6th in Boston, St. Louis took the lead over Boston 3 games to 2, and the Blues were one win away from being Stanley Cup champions.

Goalie Jordan Binnington had 38 saves and picked up his ninth road and 15th overall victory of the post season. Binnington was a huge part of the Blues’ midseason turnaround that saw them go from the worst team in the league to the brink of the championship. Binnington was 24-5-1 with a 1.89 goals against average after being called up from minor league San Antonio on December 9th.

St. Louis can win the Stanley Cup in Game 6 at home on June 9th. But they are playing very well on the road and if it came down to it, winning it in Boston in Game 7 on June 12th isn’t out of the question. Besides, in 1970, the last time the Blues were in the Finals, St. Louis lost Games 3 and 4 in the four game sweep that year in Boston, so that may be an appropriate way to end it, at least for long time Blues fans.
