Astros Beat Dodgers in Wild Game 2 of World Series

The Houston Astros evened the 2017 World Series at a game apiece, beating the Dodgers in Los Angeles 7-6 in 11 innings. The game featured a post season record eight home runs, with five coming in the tenth and eleventh innings, which is also a record for most extra inning home runs in any game regular or post season; a rare blown save by Dodger’s closer Kenly Jansen , and a guy who decided to jump into the Astros’ bullpen during the game. Security was on him before his feet touched the ground.

This was the Houston Astros’ first winning World Series game ever. The franchise has only been to the Fall Classic one other time. In 2005, the Astros won the pennant while still a member of the National League, losing to the Chicago White Sox in four games.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is facing scrutiny for lifting starting pitcher Rich Hill after just four innings. Hill had allowed a run on three hits and three walks while striking out seven. The Dodgers used nine pitchers in the game. George Springer hit a two run homer off losing pitcher Brandon McCarthy, who was making his first appearance since October 1st, to give Houston a 7-5 lead.

The Dodgers made it close in the bottom of the inning with a solo homer by Charlie Culbertson, but Houston held on for the 7-6 victory.

Game 3 is in Houston on October 27th.
