Albert Pujols Passes Another Career Milestone

Future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols may or may not be in his final major league season, but he still has a little left in the tank. On August 20th, Pujols was 4 for 4 at the plate with a pair of home runs to help the St. Louis Cardinals defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks 16-7 in a wild game in Phoenix. Pujols supplemented the homers with a pair of singles, giving him 10 total bases and 6143 for his career, moving him into second place on the all time total bases list. (Henry Aaron leads with an unreachable 6856 total bases).

Pujols now has 692 home runs in his career (5th all time), 13 of which he has hit this season. Alex Rodriguez is 4th on the home run list at 696. Pujols has had a great August so far, hitting six homers and driving in 13 runs while batting .452 for the month. With about seven weeks left in the regular season, he could pass Rodriguez and possibly reach 700 career homers.
