It was indeed a strange week with 3 days when no one got FJ! right. Only one person came up with the right response to the other two clues. All 3 players made it to FJ! in each game so that it made it all the more unusual. We can only go by our own knowledge to figure out which clue was hardest, most confusing or easiest. For me, Tuesday’s clue was the one I couldn’t get because I did not know that Sarah Jessica Parker ever appeared in a Broadway musical. The easiest ones of the other 4 were Monday’s 19th century notable and Wednesday’s historic American.

In one way, it was a blow-out week despite the misses in Final Jeopardy! Amy Schneider ran away with every game. There’s no way Amy would jeopardize that status with a foolish bet so she was not going to lose the game whether she got Final Jeopardy! right or wrong. As it was, the 4 FJ! bets she lost came to a total of $62,000. The one FJ! bet she won was $4,000. So, we could say she would have $58,000 more if she bet nothing in each game. But Amy’s confidence in her knowledge is such that she is not going to miss a chance to add some more money to the pot just because she has a runaway. Additionally, Amy has made quite a bundle on correct responses on Daily Doubles and in FJ! So although the final scores this week were less than what we’ve become accustomed to seeing, on balance, Amy is obviously well ahead of the game.

In this “Overheard” video, Ken suggests that the money Amy lost in FJ! was just “house money.” Ha! I don’t believe there is any such thing as house money myself. Once the money is in your column, you are in the driver’s seat. It’s YOUR choice to keep it or risk losing it by gambling with it. At this point, what’s true is the only thing you can spend it on is a bet, but don’t kid yourself that it’s not within your control to keep it.

This week was also notable for Amy beating the number of games won by James Holzhauer, winning her 33rd game on Friday. Amy is now chasing Matt Amodio’s 38-game record. Amy talks about her latest record with Clue Crew Jimmy.
